Free Meals for Veterans on Veterans Day and How to Thank And Honor Veterans

Hi, I am so sorry that it has been so long since I have posted.  I have fallen behind in my classes and so I was afraid that I would fall even further behind in my classes if I spent time posting.  Nevertheless, I feel that it is so important to honor and thank the over 24 million veterans and active duty military today that I felt that I just had to take out time to post this post.  I found some great restaurants that are offering free meals for veterans today.  I also found some great resources that help people thank and honor Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel; I thought that I should include that here too.

Ways to Thank Veterans on Veterans' Day-
One of the best lists of ways to thank a Veteran on Veterans day is at: -

 Here is another fabulous list of ways to thank Veterans today:
Here is a new idea from
And this one is really quite profound:
Applebees has also set up a website that allows anyone to send a special note of thank you to Veterans.  The site allows you to either send it through YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or directly on the site.  You can even send out a gift card to Veterans on this site:

If you are like me, then you will worry about being able to say something as eloquently as Veterans deserve.  I found a great solution to that.  There are some great sites that have poetry that honors and thanks Veterans; these can be found at:

If you are a Veteran or Active Duty military, I want to thank you for keeping us free and for your bravery.
(The following poem was from:
"Here is a patriotic poem honoring veterans. Veterans day poems should include all veterans, living and dead. This Veterans Day poem could be used as a Veteran's Day greeting.

They Did Their Share
On Veteran’s Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.
Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some it’s been many years;
In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.
Some came back; some didn’t.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.
No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.
Let every veteran be honored;
Don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we can’t repay.
We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Let’s say "thank you" to every wearer."
